Chairman's Message 6 16 2010
We would like to update you with the latest developments on the Mary March property title dispute.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court Registrar’s Office has confirmed that as of today’s date, June 16, 2010, the lawyer for the Mineral Claims Recorder for the Government of Newfoundland has still inexplicably failed to file a factum and the corresponding application for a court hearing with respect to Vinland’s appeal to the decision of the Mineral Rights Adjudication Board, which rejected Vinland’s claim to the Mary March property.
This has resulted in further unnecessary delays in resolving this dispute which is now in its tenth year.
We have been very proactive in attempting to urge the Ministry Of Natural Resources to resolve this long standing dispute as expeditiously as possible either by passing legislation or by advancing appropriate court action. We are also, in concert with shareholders attempting, through the local media, to raise the level of awareness to the local public of this interminable dispute.
We have recently held a productive meeting with the mayor and town council of the town of Buchans. They are, of course, promoting new mining developments in the area which has very high unemployment since the closure of the Buchans Mine.
We are optimistic that these measures will encourage the government to realize the importance of bringing closure to this dispute to the mining industry of Newfoundland and Labrador.
We greatly appreciate the support of shareholders in these efforts.
